Why your support is needed

The Burford Singers is proud of its achievements and reputation for  inspirational choral performances.

Our rehearsal expenses and the appointment and musical expertise of a top class Musical Director, Assistant Musical Director and Accompanist are met by the annual subscription fee paid by each singing member as well as fund-raising activities and events organised by the committee and choir members.

As in common with many arts organisations, however, performing with professional orchestras and soloists brings performance costs which are rarely fully met by ticket sales alone. 

The choir therefore depends on financial help from our generous Friends and other supporters to enable us to continue to provide a wide range of choral works and concerts which have delighted audiences for over six decades.  It also enables us to commit to providing free membership for students and young adults in the local area, as well as allowing full time students a 50% discount on tickets.

Financial support comes from a wide range of donors including local businesses, arts organisations and individuals. Their support is invaluable to the Choir and without their donations we would not have the excellent musical reputation we have enjoyed for many years.

Easy Fund Raising 

Anyone can sign up to the Burford Singers page of Easyfundraising. Online purchases then produce a ‘dividend’ which goes to the choir, with absolutely no cost to the purchaser. We have raised more than £700 through our supporters’ online purchases.

How you can support us

There are a number of ways that individuals, businesses and organisations can offer financial support to help us achieve our aims:

Friends Scheme 

The Friends scheme makes a significant financial contribution towards performance costs and support to the students and young people programme. 

Friends receive priority seating and invitations to receptions and events organised by the Choir for the year of their gift.

Donations and Sponsorship

We have a range of opportunities available for both personal and corporate support such as sponsoring a concert or a soloist, or sponsorship for the year. In return you may receive complimentary tickets to concerts, advertising space in concert programmes and acknowledgment in the Choir’s publicity materials.

Gift Aid 

Gift Aid is a valuable source of extra income for the Burford Singers, and we encourage members and patrons to Gift Aid their subscriptions or donations. The Charity is currently able to reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 of eligible donation.
However there are certain conditions which have to be met if you make a Gift Aid declaration, in order for the amount to be transferred to the Burford Singers by HMRC.
